Can Any Type Of Coffee Bean Be Made Into A Espresso Coffee, Or Does It Have To Be A Specific Espresso Coffee Bean?
Q: Can any type of coffee bean be made into a Espresso coffee, Or does it have to be a specific Espresso coffee bean?
A: Espresso beans are just dark roasted beans. They can be made from virtually any bean, it's more about how they are roasted. In a pinch, you can use French Roast for Espresso. Espresso is a coffee bean that's been dark roasted the ground fine for use in an Espresso machine. By using different beans, you can change the flavor from Espresso to almost a chocolate flavored coffee drink with out using flavors. The people that roast their beans at home have all different mixes of beans. Check some of the coffee forums, this is discussed in great detail on them. First, some clarification, there are two separate terminolgies to be considered: Espresso ROAST is a coffee, usually a high grade Arabica Columbian, that is roasted five times longer than that of coffees meant for standard common consumption. The Espresso BEVERAGE refers specifically to the preparation method in conjunction with an ultra-fine grind of coffee. Any type of coffee bean can be roasted, ground, and prepared into general (loosely interpreted) Espresso beverage. Sadly, it seems that nowadays, only purists care about such distinctions. Espresso refers to the grind of the bean and the way that it is prepared. Quick tip, don't grind any more than you're going to use at any one time.
