Cleaning Espresso/Cappuccino Machine?
Q: I recently got an Espresso/Cappuccino maker. The frothing arm has a plastic part (frothing aid) that goes over the metal arm. The plastic attachment is easy enough to clean, but it takes a bit of labor to clean off the caramelized milk on the metal arm. Do you usually clean that metal arm after every cup? After every day? Every week? I've been cleaning it after I was done with it every time, but that changes making a Cappuccino into a 15 minute ordeal vs. maybe 5 minutes.
A: Drink the Cappuccino, and then clean it. Put the arm into a glass of hot water and froth it, to clean the arm. I work at a 'Starbucks', and we wipe it down after each one we make. That way, it doesn't have time to dry on. Also, steam it alone w/o any milk or anything, and it will help push out any extra milk in there, or will steam up water. We also have a tablet thing that cleans out the inside of the machine, but idk if home ones work like that.
