Coffee Gives Jitters. Espresso Doesn't Seem To?

Q: I was wondering if anyone could explain why one cup of coffee can make me a bit jittery, but if I have a 20 oz Latte with two shots of Espresso, it just makes me feel alert? I can't figure this one out. Anybody get this effect or know why someone would?

A: Espresso can be made from several different roasts and several different varieties, but the main reason is that Espresso extracts less caffeine during the brewing process. True, roasting coffee to a darker level burns off caffeine, but again, the brewing process is the key to the reduction. Quality of coffee: different amounts of caffeine are removed from grains when prepared. Wet25 is totally right. Espresso beans are usually dark roast that have less caffeine.
