Hmmmm....Interesting...

Q: http://www.woot.com/ Monterrey Espresso and Cappuccino Maker $19.99 I was wondering if it was any good.

A: To use the vernacular in this group, "It's a steam-toy". It probably doesn't produce enough pressure to actually produce good Espresso. Braun and other makers have similar models out there at about the same price. Not that they are any better. I don't think you can usually buy a steam toy at that price, not that you would want it anyway, generally speaking. However, $20 is moka pot territory, so if you view it as a moka pot substitute (with a steamwand to boot) then you could consider it a good deal for what is effectively an electric moka pot. The problem is that it requires a fair level of skill to get a decent cup out of one of these devices (having a $200 grinder doesn't hurt either) so it is lost on the very beginners who are the most likely purchasers.
