How Can We Trust The Sec. Of Education Who Buys Coffee Machines For Schools?
Q: http://www.suntimes.com/news/education/1... In case you not aware, Arne Duncan was in charge of education in Chicago, and this mess went on. Wasting away 67K for Cappuccino and there is more if you read the story. Now remember, Obama has picked this guy to be in charge of education for the United States. So, should we question Obama's judgement again, or is this another case it isn't an Obama problem because when Arne Duncan was in charge of Chicago schools has nothing to do with Obama? What do you think?
A: I simply don't understand the pick of Duncan by Obama. He should know the the condition of the Chicago school system after all, he didn't even allow his own children to attend those public schools. The CPS spends more money per student than 80% of the school districts in the state of Illinois, but is ranked in the bottom 10% of schools for graduation rates and student achievement. How can the head of this school system be "promoted" to deal with all schools? Obama doesn't have the time to investigate every detail about appointments, but he has the staff to do that, and they are failing to do so. So, I think the biggest lapse in judgment is who he has chosen to do this. He needs to fire them and get someone who can do a better job. If you can't oversee one school district, then how are your going to oversee the nation's system? Granted, the employees who did this are fired or are about to be, but Duncan is in charge and should have more checks in place. What kind of accounting office approved those charges?
