How Can You Make Starbucks (Refrigerated/Bottled) Frappuccino At Home?
Q: Any recipes...all the ones I've found are with ice, not the refrigerated drink. I imagine we can do it the same without the ice!?!? Anyone tried it, is it close? I don't know much about coffee, Cappuccino, Frappuccino, Espresso, Lattes...but do the have a machine like a Cappuccino machine that makes the cold drinks? Or can you make it in a Cappuccino machine and then refrigerate it to get a Frappuccino? Thanks...Christmas ideas for my mother!!! She loves these expensive little things!
A: Pretty much all Starbucks drinks start life as an Espresso, so it might be worth getting her an Espresso maker rather than a Cappuccino machine. To make your own Frappuccino you need: 1/2 cup fresh espresso (chilled) 2 1/2 cups low fat milk (2%) 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon dry pectin * Combine all the ingredients in a pitcher or covered container. Stir or shake until the sugar is disolved. Chill and serve. (Makes 24oz) To make a mocha, add a pinch (1/16 teaspoon) of cocoa powder to the mix before combining. To fake Espresso with a drip coffee maker and standard grind of coffee: Use 1/3 cup ground coffee and 1 cup of water. Brew once then run the coffee through the machine again, using the same grounds. This makes about ½ cup fresh Espresso to use in the above recipe. Run a pot of water without grounds through the machine to clean it. * This is a natural thickener found in fruits that's used for canning. You can find it in the supermarket near the canning supplies. In this recipe it makes the texture of the drink thicker and creamier and can be found in the original recipe. It doesn't add to the flavour and can be missed out if you don't care about duplicating the texture of the real thing.
