Is The Coffee Used To Make Espresso The Same As The One We Use In A Regular Coffee Maker?
Q: I live in Italy, and I want to send my Aunt, who is in America, an Italian Espresso coffee pot, but I was wondering if she would have to buy a special type of coffee or if she could just use the regular type.
A: Most every grocery store, no matter where you are in North America, stock one kind of Espesso, or like here in Canada, we have stores that sell bulk coffee and the have Espresso beans, you can buy and grind fresh at home. I live in Toronto, and we have the second largest Italian population in the city next to major citys in Italy, and there are probably at least 20-30 brands here. The only thing in the US is, if she is in an area like the south or midwest, where there isn't much ethnic diversity, it may by hard, but some place nearby would have something for her. My husband makes Espresso every day here in the US. We buy whole bean Columbian coffee and grind it at home. Works just fine. Lucky woman, your Aunt - I wish I had a relative in Italy to send me gifts. Espresso is usually made from dark roasted bean, where your normal coffee is usually roasted lighter.
