Why Does 'Starbucks' Give You Espresso In A Little Cup? Is Espresso Stronger Than Regular Coffee, If So, Why?

Q: Why does 'Starbucks' give you Espresso in a little cup? Is Espresso stronger than regular coffee? If so, why?

A: Espresso is a very concentrated form of coffee. It is served in "shots", just like if you were drinking alcohol straight. If you were drinking alcohol, you wouldn't just fill your glass up with straight booze, you would mix it with something. So, if you want a drink in a big cup, you would want to order a Latte or a Cappuccino, which is Espresso, milk, and foam. If you just order Espresso on its own, it's just a straight shot of java, my friend. It is more concentrated than regular coffee. It is the same coffee bean that is roasted a bit darker than most coffees. It's called 'Espresso roast'. There are some coffee roasts that are even darker than Espresso. An Espresso machine uses a finer grind of coffee than what is used to brew coffee, and also uses more coffee than would be used to make regular coffee (more coffee grounds for the amount of Espresso produced). The coffee is also pumped under pressure through the grinds to concentrate the drink.
