Arabica Coffee Plant

Arabica coffee plant is also known by the name of mountain coffee. This plant has its origins in the African land growing in countries such as Ethiopia and Yemen, being considered by many coffee lovers to be the best coffee in the world. The beans of the Arabica coffee plant also have a special flavour containing less caffeine than any other coffee plant on the market.

The Arabica coffee plant generally needs up to seven years in order to grow mature and to produce high quality beans. To grow properly, the plant needs light shade unlike other coffee plants which prefer much sunlight. It is generally cultivated at high altitudes between 1,300 and 1,500 metres, but it accepts low altitudes as well. The ideal temperatures for growing the plant range between 19 -20 ?C. It does not tolerate the frost even if it can grow at low temperatures. The rain plays a major role as the plant needs a lot of humidity in the growing season.

The Arabica coffee plant has small white flowers which open in sunny days, sometimes producing too many berries that alter the health of the plant. The plant's flowers last only a few days. They have a scent which is similar to the jasmine flowers. The berries appear after the flower's closure, leaving behind thick and dark leaves, allowing the berries to reach their maturity. These berries are ready to be picked when they become dark red, measuring 1 cm long.

Depending on the climate and the type of the plant, the trees are very difficult to cultivate. They can produce a total amount of dried coffee beans ranging between 0, 5 and 5 kilograms. Each berry contains tow compartments which hold the beans. One fruit contains tow seeds that represent the coffee bean. Sometimes one fruit can have 3 beans or just one. They grow at the tips of the tree's branches. There are some regions with perfect temperatures where these trees can be harvest all year, like the Java islands.

Coffee lovers who wish to grow their own coffee plant should know some basic rules in order to grow it well. The coffee plant needs to develop in special conditions needing filtered light. It needs regular fertilization and also humidity. Arabica coffee is preferred by the majority of coffee consumers especially those who have high blood pressure problems for tow main reasons: once because it contains less caffeine and secondly because this company also offers decaffeinated products, making the brand a respectable one worldwide.
