Mocha Iced Coffee
Coffee has been my drink of choice since my childhood. And I have always had a passion for Chocolate. For years, drinking the mocha bought in U.S. stores led me to believe that mocha was simply coffee mixed with cocoa. This is actually not true and if you understand the nature of mocha you will be able to create an excellent mocha drink.
The mocha bean is grown and dry processed in Yemen and the bean itself, light and sweet, has a distinctly chocolate flavor. It is the bean itself that gives mocha its unique flavor, not the addition of chocolate. Now if the bean has a chocolate flavor, adding chocolate will make it much richer and fuller bodied. Many people like to use good quality chocolate syrup, swirling it around to coffer the insides of a tall glass. Once you have completely covered the inside of the glass, pour in your iced coffee mixture and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and milk until your mix reaches the top rim of the glass. Top with whipped cream and some chocolate sprinkles and you've got a cool drink for a hot day and a good energy drink as well.
If you are the type of coffee drinker who likes to experiment with their coffee, you can think about flavoring your drink with different fruits, nuts or spices to add some zest. Chocolate is sweet but from time to time needs a bit of bite for a change. Using Mocha beans will get the best mocha flavor but you can also use a bean like hazelnut and get the iced mocha coffee flavor with the chocolate flavoring.
Other people like to add and extract like vanilla or almond. Try a bit of cinnamon sprinkled on top also. During the holidays my wife likes to use the iced coffee she has made over two scoops of good ice cream, with some mint chocolate sprinkled over it and fancied up with a mint stick and fresh mint leaf.
Iced mocha coffee is one of the most refreshing drinks available and it is surprisingly easy to make. Most, if not all, of the ingredients are already in your kitchen and whipping up a batch on a hot summer day can be just the cool off ticket that you and your family needs. Start off mixing up just one batch, get it to the taste that you like and then start experimenting.
