Cool Brew Tea
On a hot summer day, nothing could beat the heat than a tall glass of cool brewed tea made from green tea leaves.
The magic lies in the way it is brewed. Spring water or filtered water works best to work up the perfect brew. In general green tea should be brewed at a temperature that is lower than hundred degrees, preferably somewhere between 79 to 85 degrees and for a shorter duration of about half a minute to a minute.
That was about brewing green tea to perfection. Green tea can be enjoyed as a refreshment in summer in the form of an iced tea. To make this refreshing drink one needs about four green tea bags to be brewed for three minutes in boiling water. Once this is done, pour the green tea into a pitcher and allow it to cool. Dilute this cool brewed tea to a shade of pale yellow by adding water. The tea can be sweetened either with sugar or honey and flavored lightly with ginger slices. Pour this into a tall glass filled with ice cubes and drop in a slice of lemon and some fresh mint leaves.
Cool brewed tea is very therapeutic as it contains 700 plus varied chemicals comprising amino acids, antioxidants and Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. These antioxidants are a great protection to the body from cell damage caused by molecules called free radicals which can cause heart ailments and cancer. Iced tea is known to reduce many cancers by stopping the cancerous cell growth and the blood vessels that the tumors feed on. Cool brewed tea helps strengthen the immune system and even helps burn away calories. It even helps fight against cholesterol. Smokers can neutralize the damage caused to their white blood cells by consuming four to five cups of cool brewed tea daily. People suffering from hypertension can keep their blood pressure levels in control and those wanting to prevent Alzheimer's and Parkinson's must get into the habit of drinking cool brewed tea on a daily basis.
The magic of cool brewed tea lies beyond drinking it. It makes a perfect anti-inflammatory remedy for insect bites and minor cuts and wounds.
So what are you waiting for? Just as an apple a day keeps the doctor away, a tall glass of cool brewed tea a day, keeps one healthy and here to stay!
