Organic Japanese Green Tea
Tea made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant is known as green tea. The leaves are immediately flash heated after picking. They are neither roasted nor fermented. Thus, the green tea is produced with minimal oxidation. Green tea originated in China but is very popular in Japan and rest of Asia
Green tea contains four main polyphenols.Together these polyphenols are known as catechins. Catechins are powerful antioxidants. They fight viruses, slow ageing and have many other health benefits. Catechins also destroy free radicals in the body. Free radicals are highly reactive molecules or fragments of molecules that damage the cells in the body making the body vulnerable to cancer and other degenerative diseases. An antioxidant found in green tea, epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG is 100 times more effective than Vitamin C and 25 times more effective than Vitamin E in protecting cells and DNA from the damage that leads to cancer and heart disease. EGCG also has twice the amount of resveratrol found in red wine.
Drinking green tea regularly is known to lower blood pressure. The polyphenols and polysaccharides also lower blood sugar. Green tea also lowers cholesterol. The citizens of Uji and Shizouka, two provinces in japan drink green tea the most than any other region in Japan. Consequently these provinces have the lowest rates of cancer in the world. Green tea aids weight loss by increasing thermo genesis in the body. Thermo genesis is the rate at which the body burns calories. The catechin polyphenol in green tea, EGCG in particular stimulate and prolong thermo genesis. It increases energy expenditure and fat oxidation over a period of 24 hours. Green tea also inhibits the storage of fat in the body. Therefore, drinking green tea regularly will help your metabolic rate go up and help burn fat safely and naturally.
Having seen the harmful effects pesticides and fertilizers has on man; the world is slowly going back to natural ways of production. The resulting produce is said to be organic and besides being healthier also has a richer taste.
