My dentist told me that if I lick my teeth with my tongue (obviously) then that act should somehow prevent your teeth from yellowing. You're supposed to lick the back and front after each gulp of the black, loving sensation!

unfortunately it seems to be quite true that drinking coffee on a regular basis causes yellow teeth, but then again if that is the only serious negative effect of coffee I can live with it

One thing you don't want to do is brush your teeth within about 30 minutes after drinking coffee. The coffee leaves some acid on the teeth and the brushing with the acid etches the enamel. I prefer to brush before coffee anyway so I have a fresh mouth to enjoy the coffee taste more. Then, I rinse about an hour after the coffee.

Guys, it is not just the tea, coffee, and cigarettes that make our teeth yellow. There are many other foods and drinks which we don’t know that they play a major role in causing the problem of yellow teeth. To your surprise, let me tell you that even white wine is also a big contributor in yellowing the teeth. Since it is acidic in nature, drinking white wine makes your teeth more prone to receive stains from other things you’re consuming at the same time. Let’s list out some items which cause yellow teeth–

Tea (especially Black Tea), Coffee, Cigarette, Tobacco, Cola, Soda, Sports Drinks, Sugary Sweets, Red/White Wine, Curry and Other Sauces, Condiments (e.g. soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and ketchup), Fruit Juices, Brightly Colored Fruits and Vegetables (e.g. pomegranates, blueberries and beet).

The best way to reduce the staining of teeth is to rinse your mouth with water after eating or drinking anything and allow saliva to flow in your mouth; apply it over your teeth using your tongue. Saliva is a best defense against yellowing of teeth, cavities and enamel erosion.

That’s true.. that are some of the causes why out teeth become yellowish. But still there are other reasons why the teeth turns to yellow. I just search it for the benefits of others. Hope you’ll get some benefits.

    These are through:
genetic disposition – if most of your family members have yellow teeth – looks likely genetic.
age – aging is a natural process and so is yellowing of teeth with age
certain medicines – if you are given antibiotics tetracycline or doxycycline before the age of eight, chances are that your permanent teeth have striated or banded strains on them.
excess fluoride – it occur due to high fluoride levels in water, a child swallowing excessive fluoride toothpaste or fluoride supplements taken by mouth.
food and drinks – various foods and drinks are known to cause teeth discolouration.
tobacco – smoking or chewing tobacco can leave extrinsic stains on the enamel of the teeth. It contains many hard-to-remove staining elements that cause a gradual yellowing of teeth and mar the appearance of your teeth.
poor oral hygiene Inadequate brushing and flossing allow stains from coffee, tobacco, etc. to develop and calculus (tartar) to build up on teeth. This will make your teeth appear yellow.
tooth fillings – dental restorative materials like amalgam (silver fillings) can leach out over time and get deposited in the enamel and cast a dark colour to teeth.
    certain diseases -
trauma – when your tooth is injured due to trauma from sudden fall or accidents there may be bleeding in the innermost layer of the tooth (pulp chamber). Blood clot and remnants of decomposed pulp tissue may also get into the tubules of the dentin thereby staining the dentin and causing tooth discolouration. In young children, the teeth are still developing. Trauma in such children can also disturb enamel formation and cause discoloration of their permanent teeth.
