Smaller Beans?

I have been drinking French roast coffee for a long time, since the 80s when it first became prominent in the Bay Area and the PNW. Today, I live in Denmark and, finding no decent French roast coffee supplier in the EU or UK, I import the roasted beans primarily from Cafe Ibis (in Logan, Utah, would you believe) and Peet's. Both taste very good coming out of an aero press and they are among a small group of companies that will ship from the US to the EU (that i have found and like).

Perhaps I am imagining this, but the whole beans used for French roast seem to be getting smaller over time. If I am not imagining this, what is going on? Has it something to do with the effect of geographic origin on the size of the beans? Is it a general trend?

I assume that both roasters use Arabica beans, but from where I have no idea.
