Gavalia Coffee, the company who advertises their beans by offering people who buy it a free coffee maker has been advertising throughout the Internet and magazine advertisements and inserts. I'm half tempted to try their coffee and would like to know if anyone here has tried the Gourmet Gavalia Coffee.

Thanks for your Input,

Gevalia only ships to the USA. :x
However my Mum lives in NY and has taken advantage of the offer, and says that their coffee is better than the kind you get at the grocery store, but she did think overall it was a little expensive. I seem to remember it was $15 a bag? I could be off here.... my apologies if I am wrong....

Gevalia is made in a swedish town called gävle on the eastern coast of sweden.
I think its a great coffe, in sweden there´s at least 15 different kinds of blends. All from very lightly roasted not so strong to dark roasted with lots of taste. I would strongly recommend this brand to anyone who likes a tasteful cup of coffee!

Gevalia Coffee Beans

In Sweden would you say this is a very well drinken coffee, one of the top sellers? Or is it more expensive in comparison to other coffee there?

In the US I have never seen on store shelves only available via mailorder.

Together with Löfbergs Lila its the most popular brand, and its not that expensive at all. Off course there´s low-quality brands that are cheaper, on the other hand there are even more exlusive brands that are more expensive.

The coffee is mediocre at best. It is not very fresh.

Gevalia Coffee

I HAVE tried Gevalia coffee many times in the past, and, as a dark roast coffee lover, I find nothing that Gevalia offers to satisfy me. I do not like the Scandinavian style aftertaste that Gevalia has... SO, I wouldn't recommend them, but you might like it if you like that Scand. style and you are not a really dark roast coffee fan!

Gevalia

In Consumer Reports review of coffees, the Gevalia came in second to
Gloria Jean's Columbian beans:

Gevalia Kaffe Select Varietal Colombia 5.95 + 8.0 17 Strong floral-fruity and very low earthy notes.

Personnally, I've never had Gevalia or Gloria Jean's.

Personally I believe it is best to buy from a local roaster in small amounts. To buy coffee that is roasted half way around the world...you really don't know how long it sat in the roasters warehouse...then how long it takes to ship it and sits in yet another warehouse then the time to get it in your hands...that coffee could be anywhere from a month or older. I also like the old saying that nothing in life is free...
