Additives - Powder vs Syrup?

Hi all, i recently have gotten really into making latte's at home with my espresso machine. My gf is a big fan of white chocolate mocha's from our local coffee shop. We noticed when they make theirs they use a powder for the white mocha, instead of syrup. My question is, is the powder better, or more healthy then the syrup? Or are they using powder as a cost-effective thing?

I want to make white mochas at home, but want to know if I should be looking for powder or syrup for the flavoring. Looking for quality, not so much cost-effectiveness.
