Basket style filter
I recently received a drip coffeemaker which uses a basket style filter. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but it seems to me that the basket wouldn't provide as thorough a saturation of the ground beans as a cone filter would. I tried to find some verification of this thought on a Google search but was unsuccessful. Can anyone tell me if the filter shape is all that important?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
P.S. I usually use a French Press, but wanted a 4-cup drip maker for when I'm in a rush.

I do not have an exact answer, but I have been told that cone filters do work better becasue the grounds become more saturated before the coffee brews into the pot. This may not be any "scientific evidence," but it does seem to make sense. With a cone style filter, all the grounds become saturated because of the shape of the filter, rather than in a traditional style basket where the gounds may just become wet.
