This is a sudden problem. It starts spinning slowly and hums loudly, then it sort of breaks loose and spins normally (fast). If there is coffee in the hopper then the motor can't get it spinning and the circuit breaker trips.

Any easy fixes or amI going to have to take the motor to a shop?

I'm not the one to ask, but it sounds like a capacitor problem on the motor. I wish I could tell you how to diagnose or repair that, but that's all I know, mostly from watching or talking to motor experts. You might google to find out how a motor reacts when it has a blown capacitor. The good news is, if that is indeed your problem, the part shouldn't be expensive.
