Looking for a really good tutorial on using a siphon type coffee maker?

Anyone have a really good tutorial on the nuances of using siphon coffee makers. I just invested in a 8cup stove top siphon brewer and the instructions detail the basics of operation but I am looking for a really good guide that explains how course or fine to grind the coffee and brew times for different strengths. Also how do you clean the bottom pot effectively the hole is way to small to just use a normal sponge :-D
