Hi everyone,

I've got a Gaggia Syncrony Compact that I've owned since 2005. It has, for a long time, had occasional issues with grinding and creating a plug. Every once in a while, the machine will grind and grind and grind, sometimes going through a huge amount of coffee, without ever creating a plug. When it does ultimately create one, it sometimes creates one so dense that the shots take several minutes to pull. Needless to say, those are some strong shots, and I worry that there is a lot of pressure building up.

When these plugs ultimately are dumped, the machine clacks violently. This usually resolves itself after 15 cycles or so, and remains workable for another 50 or 60 cycles, before the problem starts back up again.

Today the machine seems to have started up on this behavior once again, grinding several ounces of beans and never doing anything with them. Any thoughts about what might be happening and how I might be able to resolve the issue?
