Needs help for registering the trade name for my coffee shop

    Hi all,

Do you know more about trade name registration procedures? I'm planning to open a coffee shop near to my home for all coffee lovers. I'm also planning to set a small library inside the shop.I have found a catchy name for my shop. One of my friends told me that it is ideal to do trade name registration as early as possible.

And he also suggested me to take help from a company offering necessary assistance for trade name registration in Ontario. But the thing is that I don't know much about them. Are they charging any fee? If so, how much I have to pay? Please do respond.

    Thanks in advance.

I just did that exact complete procedure and i could certainly help you with that since you are in Canada like me so same rules. You can do it yourself but it will most certainly take up much more time and you will find it a bit complex and you risk to get many negatives trial so it will for sure take much more time to get your trademark. So because of this i went with a specialist but it is costly. It cost me more then $4000cad just for the time spent of the specialist to do the research of all of my business names trial! But now it is done, will have official paper in few months. It takes few months as a minimum and could take up to a year for the whole process. If you want, send me an email and i can give you some general recommendations for your name as there are a few things to try to respect when you pickup a name before going into the registration process. This way you could do it yourself if you respect thoses general advices when selecting the name you expect to register. I had to change mine as it was not possible to register the brand after having used it for two years. So yes it is a good idea to do it as a first step in the business if you are serious about it. This is the most important step in any business IMO. Here is my email: info@lecafecrema.com
