Consumer App to "tip" coffee farms directly? really?????

A new app called "Propina (tip in English)" is designed to make coffee consumers to tip the farmers (in coffee origin country).
Grupo Crawford launched this app just now with 2 different iOS apps tha send tip directly to Colombian coffee farmers.

as example, you drink a cup of coffee and you like it so much that you want to tip the actual farmer who grew this bean. then, via the app, you can send whatever tip you want to give to the farmer in Colombia.

    a wild concept!
    but will this really work?
and how the hell do we really know the tip is really going to right place?
    another "brilliant" marketing gimmick?

This new Propina app was recently launched, and it will be interesting to see how it all works out.

People are more aware and cautious now-a-days regarding donations. In a lot of cases, money that they donate for a particular purpose often doesn't end up in the right place.
I can't imagine it working out in favor of the coffee farmers, where they would actually see the money.

I also can't imagine cafes in the U.S. wanting to offer this option to their customers. If a person sends a tip to the coffee farmers, then he or she probably wouldn't want to give a tip to the cafe's employees too. That would create a bit of resentment among the employees.

then, is there any way or ways that consumers can help the farmers?
directly or in-directly? with greater transparency...

A very wealthy individual would need to set up a foundation to collect the donations, and then provide transportation and a salary to a trustworthy person (like you) to hand-deliver the donations to the farmers.

    thanks Rose.
Yup. I can do that. currently, I am sponsoring coffee farmer's kids for their elementary school educations..
five years ago, I started out with one kid at Caserio El Tigre school. Now I have 20 kids there.
also, another 14 kids thru our NGO.
12 more thru our Korean Missionary chuch in our quetzaltenango city.
it could work. and that would be really wonderful.
    thanks rose.

I love that Idea and Iím a look into that app to see how we can actually give these farmers propinas because what they do for us to enjoy a good cup of coffee is insanely hard work!!!
