Has anyone tried "Voila Specialty Instant coffee" or "Sudden instant coffee"?

Voila specialty coffee claims that it is THE BEST INSTANT COFFEE in the world !!! (I do not know that says MUCH or not.. being the best INSTANT coffee !) and it went on Kickstarter last year and go the money to start his company. Around $26K was the goal.
But when I went to their website to read more about it or even subscribe (just to try it out and experiment), it says "Coming soon".

Has anyone got this Voila coffee? tried out yet?

Also, there is another brand called, "Sudden" instant coffee which actually shipping and selling. $2.50 per cup (one stick of instant coffee). is price reasonable? Has anyone tried?

as for Voila, they charge $4.00 per cup. I do not know where this pricing came out from Voila, but it seems very expensive for a cup of instant coffee, even though it is the best instant coffee in the world.

    what do you think?
As for the package, it looks like a cigarette box or condom box :+) Voila! condom will last you all night, restless sleep! & re-usable!

As we all know, regular instant coffee is made with Robusta beans and other "rejected Arabica beans". But "Sudden" and "Voila" claim that they only use the best quality Arabica beans to make their Instant coffee.
Making instant coffee isn't so easy and it needs a lot of equipment and process, as you can see in below youtube link "how to make instant coffee" which is quite interesting.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G5LcVUcWAg

However, in order to make small or micro q'ty of this high grade instant coffee, the cost of making could be very very expensive.
perhaps, Hence, the expensive pricing per cup. Maybe.

There is another instant coffee project that raised about $2 million to develop instant coffee in either the SanFran or Oakland area. i will have to look it up.

If you must know, I am involved in an instant coffee project that will be coming out in the fall...using decent arabica and not what is left over after the sorting nor robusta. Name still pending copyright

THat is SUDDEN COFFEE. The founder is Kalle Freese (only 26 yrs old :+) who is the Finnish barista champion. He has brought Sudden coffee with some help from Silicon Valley supporters. His company is in San Francisco.

His formula is simple. First brew coffee to an exact extraction rate, then, freeze & dry. Of course, using good coffee in the first place (no Robusta nor defective Arabica beans!).
As I know, initially, he set his coffee price at $6 per cup, but now it is selling at $2.50 a cup. He must be doing okay to reduce his production cost.

PS: this nerdy guy is Finnish Kalle! Started this project at 24 years old! Pretty smart guy if you ask me....
PPS: Supposedly, all of his coffee is first brewed as espresso using LA MARZOCCO LINEA. Then, the shots are cooled down, then, freeze dried! No wonder, first his asking price was $6.00 a cup!

I don't understand America's love affair with instant coffee. My Grandmother (who I adored) drank a cup of decaf instant coffee every night with her meal sprinkled with sacrin tablets (do they still make those?) and milk. It was a truly disgusting concoction.
I think a coffeepress or pour over has to be pretty close to instant in terms of instant coffee.
I guess American's like their coffee by the cup without the clean up. Perhaps that's the appeal of the Keurig one cup makers.
I don't like to do dishes, and I don't consider myself all that picky about my coffee but instant is just gross imo.
However, found this thread and the fact that there is an audience for instant fascinating.

I got the Sudden instant coffee today.
it came in very nicely packaged USPS first class mail.
what really surprised me was that their attention to detail and how personal they made.
As you can see they even included a hand-written 'welcome' card by LaToya, two Sudden instant coffee tablets, a stirrer, a sticker (which I like), a couple of post cards the explains about different things about coffee.
Just WOW! This is as personal as an on-line coffee company can get!

Do I like it? Hell, YES!

As many people here in forum knows, I work in Guatemala selling green coffee to other countries. That means, I get to do a lot of cupping! And Since I ONLY sell Specialty green beans, I guess that I know bit more about GOOD coffee than next door neighbors....

    But with INSTANT COFFEE?
    I say "Why Not!".

It does not hurt to try and it could be very interesting. So here it goes....

First, I wanted to compare Sudden with a couple of different instant coffees.
One is Nescafe. I paid $1.00 for it. 50 grams
The other is Trader Joe's, 100% Colombian Instant Coffee. I paid $3.99 for 99 grams.
Finally, Sudden Instant Coffee! Supposedly, SPECIALTY INSTANT COFFEE, The best instant coffee in the world! I paid $3.25 (including Tax) for ONE STICK that contains 4 grams !!!! of instant coffee.

Okay, let's do some calculation. Do you know how much of the Cheap Nescafe comes out to to 4 grams? the 4 grams of Nescafe comes out to $0.08!

    4 grams of Nescafe : $0.08
4 grams of Sudden : $3.25 *40 times more expensive than Nescafe. Better be 40 times good! *

I measured them exactly 4 grams of each 3 different coffees. Hot water will be 8 oz.
