Written agreement or not?

I’m wondering if a Wholesale Company ( Coffee Roaster) and a Distributor (Company selling said coffee produced by Coffee Roaster) should inter into a written agreement between them laying out expectations from each party. Does this typically happen:question:

Sorry if you saw this elsewhere on the forum, I wasn't sure just where to post this question.

Cheers,
Jerry

Jerry,

It depends on the parties involved, but it's not uncommon.

How much clout the roaster has will determine their ability to lay out terms.
Or a new roaster with an excellent product may be able to dictate terms. If the parties know each other, a "gentleman's agreement" will suffice.

The coffee is the roaster's reputation, and where and who they sell to will reflect that. The roaster should always have an expectation that their reputation, if they have one, is taken seriously.

Thanks once again Rose! You sure have a knack for finding these things :) Yes something like that. I'm trying to see how often or common these written agreements take place.

Cheers,
Jerry
