Hi all! I am new to roasting and just purchased some Organic Nicaragua coffee. I have roasted about 15 lbs, but I seem to continually get a slight bag flavor. The last couple batches I tried taking about a batch worth of beans and storing them in ziplock bags a couple days before roasting to see if that would help. It still does have a slight taste. What do you do to get that burlap flavor out? Thanks a ton!

You usually get bag flavor if the burlap bag is new. The bag should be aired out to get the odor out. If the bag taste is actually grassy, then you may be roasting too hot where the inside of bean is underdone and the outside is done too much. Try a slower roast dumping in at a lower temperature and see if that gets rid of the taste. If not then lay out all the beans on a huge tray to air out the beans.
