Delivery fees?

- What is the consensus on charging delivery fees? I am running a small scale wholesale business and have several accounts. Are you including delivery fees on your invoice? If so, what's expected and fair? Obviously has something to do with volume. Example - I deliver about 7-8 lbs per week to a small coffee shop. I'm not going out of my way to deliver to them, so I dont charge anything. If they were 20 min out of my way should I include a small delivery fee?

I charge to ship less than 8kgs but if I am driving by am happy to deliver.

My shipping charge covers my cost, there is no profit.

That said, if I'm not driving by I'll still make a personal delivery once in a while so I remain a familiar face to my customers.

Also if you are growing there will come a point where you are too busy to deliver. Distributors typically want 25% so make sure you build that into your price from the get-go.

If we are going that way there is no charge. If it is a special trip we UPS or charge a fee.
