Do I need a Chaff Collector?

Hello Roasters,
I just purchased a 2006 Dietrich IR12, it has an internal chaff collection system that was used without a external chaff collector and exhausted straight to a 12+ foot vertical stack.
The stack once disassembled had almost no chaff in it after years of heavy roasting. So do I need to add a chaff collector? Is a used one even available?

If it has an internal chaff collector I can't see why you would need an external as well. I do suggest you check that box as frequently as possible. They are called fire boxes for a reason. I would keep a hose close by and a squirt bottle. Bottle for wee smoldering bits and hose for if it ignites all the chaff. I have used Diedrich in the past and have friends that use them...never really heard of any issues like other brands that have internal chaff collectors.
