How do you organize your coffee runs?

I'm working in a personal / school project to create a small system to improve the way people organize coffee runs. It would be great if you guys help me with some general insights:

1. In which environment do you do coffee runs? (office, school, other)
2. Can you briefly describe the process you follow?
3. How do you take account of every order?
4. How do you manage money (payments) with your friends?
