Kaldi's Coffee Ethiopia : biggest coffee chain store in Ethiopia

This is one of biggest coffee chain stores in Ethiopia.
    KALDI'S COFFEE

the name, color and logo seem familiar? LOL

anyway, if you check out their website, in menu, they have 25 ETB (their money) for Latte and 30 ETB for caramel macchiato for TALL size. That is about $1.05 & $1.30. some might say "so cheap!", but most of coffee workers, specially women, make about $0.50 (12 ETB) a day, sorting out defective beans for 8 hours.

so will they ever buy a caramel macchiato in Kaldi's coffee shop? think Not.

Kaldis is not exceptional. Farmers and workers in the coffee sectors live in poverty!

I do agree that farmers in the coffee farms as well as workers in all coffee companies are paid very low salary and do live in poverty. I hoop circumstances will change in a near future and people in the coffee producing countries like Ethiopia will start profiting from their products eventually. So Kaldis is not exceptional in the issue, It is not a hidden fact that the huge part of added value of the coffee ended up in the westerns countries pocket. Ethiopia sells her green cofffee at a very low price while Germany is number one exporter of roasted coffee while youth unemployment rates is very high in Ethiopia
