Have you visited China? If did, any coffee & culture experiences?

I might sound like a blogger now, but I am not, never been a blogger and I do not even know really what bloggers do. Long time ago, someone in this forum told me that I am posting my threads like a blogger.
however, again, my main purpose of being here is to learn about coffee from others, cultures and also meeting people. Meanwhile, If I can help others about coffee, share some of my coffee experiences, I will be happy with that.

I am in Beijing for next 9 days and whenever chance I get, I will post some interesting (hopefully) articles and photos here.

we arrived last night and as soon as we got out of the terminal, we found a coffee shop called, Maan coffee. very nice and hip place. and pretty decent americano coffee. As I heard, this Maan coffee is not Chinese, but Korean chain, but I am not so sure.

it is absolutely breathtaking to see and climb up the steep stairs for an hour. Incredible view and words can not really describe how grand and impressive this Great Wall is. Even though the temp was slightly below freezing point, but as I was going up, I was taking off my hat, gloves, jackets.. one by one.

My wife and I came here with China Gov't funded tour (extremely cheap via groupon), 10 days tour, but second day, already we feel that we got our money's worth.
there is no way to describe the grand scale and awesomeness of the great wall.
You just to have to come and do the stairs by yourself for an hour to get to the top.

so... if you ask me.. what this Great Wall got to do with "coffee forum"..???? you just wait. I will post some super interesting photos and articles on my next thread....

the #1 photo is where everything begins. tour bus parks there and starting point. then, tour guide gives us two hours to climb up the Great Wall.
from 47 our tour members, only less than 5 made up to the top and came down. you have to walk up the stairs (very badly made...) for an hour to reach the top portion.

anyway, what surprised me the most was numerous coffee shops at the main waiting/bus place. All the shops around says' Coffee shop. of course, along with other souvenirs and soft drinks...etc. but I was somewhat surprised to see some espresso machines.
look at photo #2. on the wall, there are communism propaganda posters everywhere....

this is the main great wall coffee shop. since it was almost freezing point, elderly people who could not go up the great wall were inside having some hot drinks and buying souvenirs. I also bought a drink. a cold coffee with ice cream and whip cream... Yes, Yes, I call that Fu Fu drink. (I did not trust their hot normal coffee drinks, so I bought this Fu Fu drink, and still total failure! Like my wife, I should have ordered just Chinese Oolong or blackk tea :+(

Hello my friend and welcome to my hometown Beijing China. I really hope you would have an unforgettable memory in Beijing. Just like you said, the Mana Coffee is a Korean company and established in 2011. As Mana Coffee has been becoming popular and hot, there many different versions of Mana Coffee such like Manmao coffee or Hui coffee have emerged, they are almost 100% same like Mana Coffee such as decoration, drinks and Food..but anyway they are also welcomed...
I am a new coffee fan and now learning coffee in somewhere out of Beijing, Hope to see you when i back if you not leave.
One more thing, Do not buy anything if you are going to XiuShui street where is well-known by knotoff luxury product and especially aim to sell foreigner. Or Haggling as much as you can.Lol

Thanks Joe. you got to come here. it is absolutely awesome trip. believe it or not, we only paid $499.00 for one person for entire trip. 10 days, all flights, 4 and 5 star hotels, two meals free. complete tour guide and 100% transportation provided. Beijing, Wuxi, Suzhou, hangzhou and Shanghai, all five cities tour.

nobody would believe the price but it is china gov't subsidized tour to promote china tours.
we got it from Groupon and it is absolutely awesome.

anyway, I am so glad that my wife and I made this trip.
    thanks.

our tour group came to HangZhou, my favorite lake city in the whole world.
there are only two kind of coffee shops around this beautiful lake, Starbucks and Costa Coffee.
It is December and all the coffee shops are in Christmas mood. I do not know whether USA starbucks also have the same Christmas coffee cups for sales or not, but I thought this coffee cup was very cute.
