Green coffee beans contain a substance called chlorogenic acid (its destroyed when green beans are roasted to remove the bitter taste). In principle chlorogenic acid stops enzymes in the body from making 'fat'. So, assuming it worked as advertised it would be more useful in preventing weight gain, rather than weight loss. The 'scientific studies' carried out - as far as I can tell - on weight control have been carried out on small numbers of people (~30) and under industry influence. So, not impartial, repeated double-blind studies -- the gold standard for determining the true consequences of taking a drug/supplement.


So.....basically its no better or worse than most supplements that carry big claims for weight loss, etc.

I haven't noticed that green coffee has any effect on losing weight. Eating less, now that has a huge impact, oh and doing more, yes it can really help. Of all the rest I am skeptical.
Only thing green coffee is fantastic for is waiting to be roasted, bwahaha... people get way too caught up thinking consuming green coffee is beneficial, that some coffees are ultra low in acidity, ultra high in caffeine, etc. 99.99999% of it is marketing B.S. clickbait.

Proper nutrition, calorie deficit and exercise (y).The rest is illusion.
I have also heard a lot that green tea also helps you lose weight, especially this bulk green tea from Kenya. What about this?

Maybe not the only thing, but certainly the main thing.

Green coffee is great for making coffee. Coffee is great for getting us up and going. Getting us up and going is great for burning calories, keeping a job, making a life. So I got nothing against green coffee.

From what I see: A review of human studies did show that green coffee extract may have the potential to help with weight loss. But the documented effects on weight loss were small, and the studies weren't long term. The studies were also poorly designed.

Even if green coffee were proven to help weight loss, I don't like it, I don't prefer it, and probably would not drink it. I don't drink coffee of any kind because of claimed health benefits. Coffee for me is not "in order to live" but rather "one of the joys of being alive". I would drink regular coffee even if it were proven to be fattening.
