A faster way is to put a teaspoon of Puly-Caff (espresso machine cleaner) in the pot and add hot water. Be sure and rinse it afterwards with plain hot water.

Faster? Dude, it may work as fast, but nothing could work faster than bleach except sulfuric acid. With the diluted bleach I mentioned those stains will be gone literally in seconds. Later!

Okay, so here''s what I came up with:
After trying each separately with minimal success I used the following:
Capful Bleach
1/4 cup Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Cafiza (a powdered espresso machine cleaner)
Fill to the top with boiling water (from the hot water tap on the coffee maker)
I let it sit overnight and it worked great, BUT where the lid screws in is plastic and on one of them I didn''t fill it high enough, so I have to redo it. So make sure you fill it so anywhere milk/cream was is covered.

The Classico doesn't require and expensive grinder to make good espresso, but it needs a grinder that makes a uniform grind. Blade grinders are out. The pressurized portafilter does not require an espresso grind, in fact that is the perfect way to cause a problem. Espresso ground coffee in a pressurized portafilter will usually cause the portafilter to brew over the top and leak down the side of the portafilter. Coffee ground to the consistency of auto drip will work the best. Use a good espresso machine cleaner to clean the portafilter once a month and you will keep that machine running strong for years. Remember NO espresso ground coffee in a pressurized portafilter. If you are using a non pressurized portafilter you will need a grinder of better quality to grind the coffee finer. The tamp will have to be better just like the big boys.

I love french presses, although I need to get a larger one. Earlier there was a question about cleaning a French Press and I was wondering if anyone had thought of using something in the line of Visions espresso machine cleaner (or similar product), and then running it in the dishwasher with no soap,. just the rince. I know if you put Visions in the dishwasher it makes a huge mess (saw someone do it once) but it can remove coffee buildup like a freaking laser.
Any thoughts?
