Post Subject: Possibly the weirdest question in the history of ever...
Hey. Newbie, first post, all that, hello. But I actually had a question that''s been on my mind on and off for like forever, and so I figured this was the place to post it, albeit a very odd question...
During, er, \"certian times of the month\", are women more receptive to caffeine and-or coffee than at other times?
My question is asked because I''m a regular coffeedrinker (more than \"regular\"; \"fiendish\" is probably a better word really), caffeine addict, all that. I make what I consider The Best Coffee Ever, very strong, very awesome. I can handle a lot of caffeine without getting sick-feeling from it... except during \"that time of month\" for some reason.
Then I get sick and jittery-shaking and dizzy after just one cup of coffee (granted, my cup of coffee is stronger than any espresso I''ve tried, but that''s beside the point). Two cups and I''m pretty much in paranoid-jumpy-giddy mode, whereas it normally takes me like five consecutive cups to get me anywhere near that (and, yes, I do drink that many sometimes).
At first I just figured it was due to what I had/hadn''t eaten with the coffee, or whatever, or maybe I''d made it too strong, but after several months of this happening, it''s just a little weird... And then last month I almost blacked out (tunnel vision and headspinny and seriously shakey, it was insane) for the first time ever while that was happening, so...
So, yes. Questiontime. So I know what not to do next time, if it''s true.
Thanks y''all. And as an aside the forum is really interesting, and I''m glad I stumbled upon it at random! <3

Post Subject: Caffeine Addiction
Only you know if you are a caffeine addict. I have always been very interested in this topic and although I feel at times I am somewhat addicted, I still drink two cups if brewed coffee a day. Most likely you have a small caffeine addiction thing going on, but then again so does the entire world. Caffeine is the largest consumed pychoactive substance in the world.
Caffeine Addiction Information Resource.
I found a lot of info on caffeine addiction there, but I wouldn''t worry since you seem to be quite normal.
From on caffeine addict to another--bottoms up...

Post Subject: Hello all - an introduction
Hi folks!
This seems like a nice place. I'm awkward with introductions but I'll give it my best shot...
My name is Adam - I'm 25 and I currently live and work in Indianapolis. I'm a full-time technical contractor, a full-time guitarist in an original rock band, and a full-time caffeine addict.
I actually found this place through a link posted on a popular music gear forum (TGP, for those who know the place) and decided to register.
I've always known that the coffee/espresso universe ran as deep as any other special interest, but I've never known anyone personally who cared as much about a good cup of coffee as I did (with exception to the drummer in my band), so without proper guidance I've pretty much played it safe. Strange, now that I think of it, that I never sought out a coffee forum. Hmm.
Anyway, I've been through a number of cheaper coffee makers and espresso machines - only to have each one die a miserable, plastic, steam-driven death at the hands of the exceptionally hard water we have here. I had the usual $30 Wal-Mart jobs and a few Krupps machines that seemed nice at first but quickly fell short. Recently I decided to move up a little bit and purchased the pump-driven Breville Cafe Roma which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I've had it a couple of months and it's still going strong, and I've realized the joy of a nice, thick crema which I had previously been missing out on.
I realize that to some of you I'm still a Philistine - I buy my beans from Starbucks and while I do enjoy it (the Bold and Extra Bold flavors exclusively) I can't help but wonder if there's better out there than the same old Sumatra.
I'm hoping you kind folks can educate me on this.
I went on for a little longer than intended, but I think it's a good start. I look forward to both coffee and non-coffee - related discussions with you all.

Post Subject: Hello
I guess I didn't notice this before I started posting in other places on the site. I'm a caffeine addict, and coffee and tea lover with only a bit of understanding about the coffee world and those who inhabit it.
I've been talking about starting a coffee shop for a number of years now, so I'm just spending some time learning, getting ideas, and helpful hints.
Found this site by accident, but decided to stay. And I have to say, there are may wonderfully helpful people on this site, who make it worth your while.
So Hello, all
