Good day to all,

We are considering opening a coffee shop in Kuwait. The competition is stiff here with brand names like Starbucks, Costa coffee, Coffee bean and second cup coffee, but people would always consider trying something new. Our idea is to provide a new experience in coffee shops and trying to target college students.

Could anybody help on how to best buy the coffee, roast it and brew it for a place as far as Kuwait (considering the distance and the unbearable heat in the summer)?? Some insights on best inventory practices will also be appreciated. If there are any recommended books or journals, It would be so much of a help as well.

Best regards and many thanks,
Ahmad

For all Canadian "coffee nuts", I would like to know if anyone is using coffee beans from SECOND CUP coffee store? I use an Arabica bean that they have called "PARADISO" (black & brown beans), and I find it quite good. It seems to be the right amount of caffeine for me. Any Canadian out there buying coffee from this store? If so, any opinions? :)

I drink Second Cup coffee all the time. For our American friends who aren't familiar with SC, it's basically a café chain like Starbucks, but with a bit more of a grassroots feel.

They have many different blends of coffee beans that they move in and out of their daily brewed rotation, but they always offer their signature blend: PARADISO. They have a Paradiso medium, which Coffeegod was refering to. It's a medium blend that is actually quite nice. They also offer a PARADISO DARK which I prefer. It makes a good espresso and has a pretty strong finish.

I don't know if you can get this bean blend in the US, but if you ever visit Canada and see a Second Cup, they're worth stopping in to for a quick visit.

Check out www.secondcup.com for more deets.

Cheers.
