Interested, but pessimistic. I buy wonderful coffee from Jayuya PR from Suzanne: fincadelseto@aol.com Several times have suggested purchasing larger quantities to drop the price, but the reality is if you only produce a few hundred pounds per year, it makes no sense to look for volume buyers. YMMV
Please Keep me in the loop.
I do think there are some coffee buyers who split bags among friends..and depending on the location, that might work.. most coffee comes into NJ, Oakland,CA or Seattle If someone in one of those locations were to spot buy a bag of beans and split it up it might be a good deal. But of course unless the guy who''s buying and splitting has cupped the lot, it could be a real crap-shoot. Sorry for the pessimism, but I suspect we all want COE coffee for
Folger''s wholesale cost.

Blue Monkey, I have handed out samples all year long to some of my most descriminating coffee-drinking friends and have not had one complaint. They all say "mmmm good!"

As far as being part of the certification process at a retailer level, you are a part of it when you choose to support the system, by buying certified, which ensures it is actually certified. Your customers feel better too.

It is unfortunate that honest coffee buyers (have there really been any? I don't know, based on the poverty of the coffee-producing countries and the damage to our water systems and rain forests, if there have been, they have been the minority, and now it's time for verification), who may have been giving coffee farmers fair prices, buying only organic shade grown, before the certification process was started (not by a corporation, by the way, but by a guy armed with a masters degree who saw a need), that they have to fork out a fee to certifyers now....but those who have been running the coffee industry have had their chance to be "honest" and it just hasn't worked.

I think you have done a wonderful job with your site. There are dozens of sites where you can get great 'coffee content'...but few that give a sense of place in the way yours does.

I don't think coffee buyers always crave tons of information. I think you are right to focus of creating atmosphere around the growing region. It makes your site quite different from any other, and that's half the fight when it comes to getting the attention of potential customers.

I think I would go a step futher and add some video clips for those who want to see them. Let's see the coffee being picked, processed and packaged.

Congrats on a great job.

Nick
