Stainless steel coffee mugs, 201 or 304?

I wish i had two side by side to see if there really is a difference. I definitely notice if my stainless steel mug goes through the dishwasher or gets washed with soap my coffee tastes funny for a couple days after. I will have to pay attention next time i get a new mug to see if there is a...

Stainless steel coffee mugs, 201 or 304?

Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion on SS201 or SS304 for coffee mugs, especially vacuum insulated ones. 201 is stronger so I was wondering if it would hold the vacuum better as i've had mugs that eventually lose vacuum. 304 has better corrosion resistance. Does one affect...

Why not to use high speed grinders?

Why should you not use a high speed grinder for coffee? I heard a few things. They could heat up the coffee effecting taste or they aren't good for a consistent grain size if you are doing a medium grind. Would they then be fine for a fine grind size? Have people been able to taste the...

Does this thermos need to have any drinkable features to it, or do you plan on pouring into another cup to drink?

favorite way to drink your coffee?

This is a spin off of an earlier thread that i'm curious to get a little more attention. Talking about stainless steal containers led to a question on the ideal drinking container or how people drink their coffee. Alsterling mentioned that for taste, glass or approved porcelain is the...

Odd taste from stainless steel mugs?

Sorry for the confusion. I guess i was using coffee mug pretty loosely. I was more talking about travel mugs or thermoses. Now that i think about it, a pure SS cup would be pretty silly since the whole thing would heat up really quickly, causing your hand discomfort and cooling the coffee...

Odd taste from stainless steel mugs?

The reason for a stainless coffee mug/container is that these can be vacuumed sealed, which will keep the coffee hot for hours upon hours. I make my coffee at home and then travel to work and sip at it for several hours which makes my SS container perfect, (when it doesn't taste funny). I...

Odd taste from stainless steel mugs?

Wow great info. I didn't think that the coffee oil would cling onto the detergent like that, but it fits the situation perfectly. Thanks.

Need Advice, help and suggestions on a serious coffeemaker for life

I have a Capresso that I like (about a year now). The most attractive aspect about their products besides great tasting coffee is that my mom's had one for 10+ years. Something breaks and they end up sending her a brand new one. I believe she's on her third.

Odd taste from stainless steel mugs?

Is it just me or does coffee taste peculiar in a freshly washed stainless steel mug? I rinse my mug now but hardly ever put it through a full wash to avoid this. I have some friends that stay completely away from stainless because of the odd taste it causes. Anyone else have this issue?

Favorite food to eat while drinking coffee?

I'm particularly fond of a sip of dark coffee followed by some m&m's. The coffee really brings out the chocolate and the sugar coating. If you haven't tried this, it's a must!
