I met with the owner today. The sale includes the business, equipment and inventory. No building. Modifications to the building not allowed. The owner wants 120 for the business plus 50k deposit. If the business is running in 3 years the deposit would be returned.
Doesn't sound too good to me...
Thanks for the reply. I agree with you on every point. I also thought $700/month seemed cheap. A couple other issues are that I would want to pave the lot and I would like to change the theme of the business. This will be something along the lines of a bikini coffee shop, although baristas will...
I found a drive thru coffee shop in my town that's nearly exactly what I want. I talked to the owner and found that he is willing to sell. He has owned it since 2008. He told me he would sell the business, including inventory and equipment for 120k. He would lease me the current building and lot...
haha that's awesome. I won't be using this name though. I was just saying that the connection between the name and the attire is about as strong as the name Daisy and bootie shorts. If the name was Daisy Duke's Coffee, that would be entirely different.
The difference is that the attire is given away by the name of the business. I may be too hung up on the fact that attire is not even hinted at in the name of my business being an advantage for me to obtain a permit. My idea is a new, significant twist on the bikini barista business model, I...
I was trying to think of an analog to my idea that doesn't give away my brilliant plan, haha. I came up with this. I call the shop Daisy's coffee. I go through the permit process without mentioning the uniforms the baristas will be wearing. It turns out that the uniform is short jean shorts and...
When you say it's in the city code, do you mean I would find something like "workers in the hospitality business shall not wear bikinis or revealing clothing"? Or maybe "bikini coffee shops and similar are prohibited"?
This seems unlikely to me, although if you have any examples I'd love to see...
That's a great point. It seems to me that most or all of these shops are drive through only. I suppose there's a reason for that. If I have sit down service it occurs to me that I would need to have two employees minimum, and one of them should probably be a male. I saw one drive through bikini...
I'm expecting to get some hate for this question. I'm thinking about opening a coffee shop with baristas wearing sexy outfits. I don't want to be too specific, but the uniforms will be something between bikinis and starbuck's wear in terms of how revealing they are. The name of the shop will not...
Musicphan, it sounds like you have some valuable insider knowledge. When you say you are a commercial roaster, I assume that means you sell coffee to coffee shops? What are some characteristics of successful small town coffee shops based on your observations?
Did I somehow create the impression that I was an internet forum statement away from signing away my life savings? If so, that was not intended. I've been looking at getting into the hospitality business for 5 years now. I've looked and passed on several opportunities, some of which others have...
