Coffee has health benefits. However many people drink it with sugar and cream. Some with lots of sugar! That's where the problems lie, not with coffee itself.
I tried it last year at a coffee farm in Bali. They had the cats (luwak) there and various beans with a guy roasting them. The theory is that the cats have a superb sense of smell and will only eat the best coffee cherries. They then pass out the undigested "bean" and the farmers pick these up...
But seriously, I might get flamed for saying this but a lot of the flak instant coffee receives is not justified. Us coffee connoisseurs tend to turn up out noses as the very mention of instant. But instant coffee has come along way and there are some products which are pretty decent.
