Newbie, need a new home coffee pot/maker/brewer

The syphon brewer would be a good choice although I prefer the tabletop models with a good butane burner over stovetop versions. You might also consider one of the many manual manual pourover versions on the market.

    Scace Thermofilter

I find them to be a very handy tool to have around. I owned one when I had a Vivaldi (53mm) but that got sold when I picked up the Speedster. I borrowed a 58mm Scace to set the brew boiler PID offset when I first got the machine but it would be nice to recheck a couple times a year. I'd consider...

We've found the best coffee machines ever

First & foremost any truly good drip brewer needs to be able to deliver 200* water to the grounds. Most don't & the performance category isn't even mentioned in your Coffee Lovers section.

    GenX coffee

Site worked fine for me. Their prices are for Green Coffee & look pretty normal to me. DP - Dry Process, WP - Wet Process. Pretty common green coffee nomenclature. So who is blasting them at Homeroasters? That link had nothing bad to say about them.

    Compak K10 "Fresh" conical grinder

I don't know where you are located in Mass. but if you get an Idro I'd love to come up & see it. A friend in England may be getting one for personal use as he's been offered a good deal through an Italian dealer. Definitely a beautiful machine!!

    Compak K10 "Fresh" conical grinder

Nasi does seem to be the go to guy for Kee's machines these days. He's only been a dealer for Kees since April but has already sold a dozen Speedsters & Kees is now referring sales inquiries from the U.S. to Nasi. I had a long phone conversion with Nasi last week as he was sourcing some Ditting...

    Caffeine & Headaches

Every once in awhile I like to clear the caffeine out of my system & remember what it feels like to be caffeine free. I drink coffee, especially espresso, for the taste & consider caffeine an unfortunate side effect I could easily live without. It's also fun to from start from scratch again...

French Press Coffee = Increase in Cholesterol

As with most things it really depends upon your system as I've seen just the opposite happen since I started drinking coffee regularly a little over 3 years ago. I drink only espresso, unfiltered press pot or cloth filtered vac pot brew. All allow the coffee oils through into your brew. With no...

    Caffeine & Headaches

I'll get a headache when I've been drinking lots of coffee/espresso for several days in a row & then cut back the next day. I wake up the middle of that night with a killer caffeine withdrawal headache. 2 Ibuprofen knocks it out & by morning I'm fine. Every 6 months or so I do a caffeine...

    Compak K10 "Fresh" conical grinder

It is a Speedster but I've never used a Mistral so can't offer any direct comparison. From what I've read the Speedster V2 was supposed to be a 1 group version of the Mistral available only through Kees. Obviously it evovled from that original idea before production started as it uses no LM...

    Compak K10 "Fresh" conical grinder

No, but all my friends tell me I have enough equipment to open a cafe. The K10 lives on the Speedster bar: [attachment=1:21ylgx06]118-1846_IMG.JPG[/attachment:21ylgx06] The Microcasa dwarfed by Bunnzilla which I've upgraded with Ditting /Mahlkonig machined burrs & a stepless mod...

    Compak K10 "Fresh" conical grinder

I use a K10WBC everyday & have found the grounds retention "issue" to be overstated. Currently I'm single dosing so waste is near zero but even when I ran it with a hopper full of beans I only needed to purge 6 grams to clear the burr chamber after an idle period. This does assume that you are...

Are you planning on using the KA Pro for Espresso or just brew coffee?

    Alex Duetto

Try asking on the Vivaldi forum, someone may have a machine opened up. If you remove the rear cover you can remove the valve with a crescent wrench. It will be interesting to see if that solves your problem. Did the boiler ever get up to the 1.3b cut off point?
