Having some issues with a new machine. When I brew the espresso it does not come out in a nice steady stream. Instead it sputters and spits and creates a huge mess. I have tried different grinds and tamping pressure, but can not seem to get this to work. I feel like I am just missing something obvious. Obviously I am new at this, so any advice would be appreciated.

Try putting more grounds into your portafilter, the water temp maybe to hot, the water pressure may need to be adjusted.
