Burning your coffee

I know this is a very basic question, but loads of people have told me that instant coffee burns if you don't put cold water in it first. Is that true?

Nope, that's not true. If it were true, the directions on the instant coffee jars or packets would say to add cold water and then hot water.

The instructions just say to add hot water.

The instant coffee manufacturers wouldn't want you to make the coffee taste worse than it already does, so they give you the proper directions for making it.
