Coffee to water ratio?

Do you not think that 28g of coffee is a bit much for a 16oz mug? I Have a Starbucks Solo Barista machine and the instructions call for 5-1/3 TBL's or 28g of coffee grinds per 16oz of water.

That does not sound too far off, I use about 1/4 cup of grounds per 12 oz of water in my French press, and I admit the resulting coffee will strip paint, but it is about right for me.
