Good Morning. I was just making a morning cup of joe using my Cusinart SS10 machine (a K-Kup Klone) and got to thinking about extraction (cycle) times. I have it selected for an eight ounce cup and it takes 1 minute 15 secs. to brew a cup (it uses a flow meter). I am using a Stainless Steel reusable brew cup. I was wondering has anybody ever come up with an optimum extraction time for this type machine? I was thinking that maybe I could fiddle with the grind size and see what effect(s) that had on the quality of the coffee produced. I would start with a weighed amount of beans and then run the grind size up and down. I could also weigh the coffee produced and see what the ratios turn out to be. I am thinking that the ratios should be fairly "tight" but then that's why we run experiments? Anyway, just throwing it out there. I have done some searching and haven't yet come up with anything. Any thoughts?
