I'm new to the board, so I'm not familiar with the regulars.

I stumbled onto the group while surfing the web for info on an article I'm thinking about writing. It's basically about the History of Coffee Production and Distribution in the Western Hemisphere from, oh, let's say, maybe 1776 to 1900. I.e., Who grew the coffee? Who controlled it? Who drank it? Who profited? What were the geopolitical forces at work that brought coffee west, plentiful enough for the cowboys, and made it the the fuel that drove the human engines of American progress?

Anyone interested in kicking that around?

Googie.

Check out "The Coffee Book: Anatomy of an Industry from Crop to the Last Drop" by Gregory Dicum, Nina Luttinger. Hopefully that will give you some of what you're lookin for. You can get it online through B & N or Amazon.
