Hi Lisa!

Sorry, the urls had to be edited out of your post.

Blatant url dropping only encourages spammers to post their advertisements of viagra, gucci handbags, button lace, and mucho porn crap. I just spent a half hour this morning, dealing with a couple dozen spam posts. Fact is, this forum gets waaaaay more spam posters than legitimate coffee-related posters.

So Lisa, you know we love you here and look forward to hearing more about your coffee, in the B2B section or Coffee Websites section of the forum, where self-promotion is allowed. ;-)

No problem at all. I did not mean to spam, I was showing the art.

You can always delete anything I say with no worries.

In fact, I like a little slap and tickle now and then. Ask anyone.

Tried it and loved it. Tasted thick and musky, just as you would imagine it tasting. Beans came in their parchment, covered in poo. It often comes as either Arabica or Robusta, never tried the Robusta but it might taste nice in an espresso

Do you think that the roaster in Indonesia, who sells Kopi Luwak, takes the time to wash and hull thousands of beans before roasting them? Perhaps, but there is no guarantee. It's possible that the beans are roasted in their parchment. If you are buying the coffee farm direct, to roast yourself, it will likely come in it's parchment too. I'm not sure if roasters buying Kopi Luwak in bulk, get fully processed coffee or not. As for what I did with the beans, I'm going to have to plead the 5th.

As a Kopi Luwak producer I can tell you that we receive the raw beans with its parchment and then we hand open the beans one by one, we grade and store. When we receive the buyer order we just wash the exact amount of green beans to be roasted, we dry them with hot air gun and we roast them with a hot air roasting device; we pack the roasted whole beans and we ship them to the customer. Orders are normally for 100 to 200 gr. and we take the time to do the proces properly.
Whatever the washing process misses the roasting and brewing process will make up for.

Excellent info Alberto. And besides, I would put my Kopi Luwak's cleanliness up against just any vegetable in my local grocer (gets roasted as well). Tastes better too.

Cheers!

Do all Kopi Luwak taste the same?

Not at all! Is very important to know from which area the Kopi Luwak comes from. Luwaks eat the coffee from the plantations near their habitats. So you can find Robusta Kopi Luwak or Arabica Kopi Luwak. The best coffee will be the one collected from the good quality Arabica coffee plantations. Let’s say that Sumatran Kopi Luwak is different than the Balinese one because the Arabica beans coffee from where they are made, also taste different.
Also, there are a lot of fake blends arround the market. Plese see here some guidelines to buy Kopi Luwak
