La Scala Butterfly plumbed-in line to water tank conversion

Hi! I have a La Scala Butterfly Lever with a plumbed-in water line and I'd like to convert it to using a water tank instead. Contacted our local espresso machine vendor/servicer but they won't get me an answer for at least a week. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? What is involved in making this conversion?
