I have decided it is time to learn to make espresso, and I am hoping that you fine coffee experts will lend your help. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and I enjoy exploring and mastering new processes. I do have one character flaw and that is I have a tendency to go overboard when I first get involved with something new. A couple of years ago I wanted to learn to shoot and edit digital video and so I went out and bought a Canon XL1s and Adobe Premiere Pro. Needless to say that was a little much for a newbie filmmaker. So, I am hoping not to repeat this experience as I embark on my espresso training. What I am hoping to get here from you Coffee Forum folks is a little advice as to where to start my search for the equipment I will need to become an adept home barista.

Some of the questions I have.

1. What are a couple of good entry to midrange machines for home use?
2. I want to grind my own beans so what grinders should I be looking at?
3. Do I need a Steam Pitcher and a Tamper?
4. What are some of your favorite beans that I might want to give a try?
5. Did I forget anything?

Thanks in advance!
