Well I have my aeropress now and the hario slim grinder... Since I am might not be able to weigh my coffee before each brew.. I thought to use my wife's diamond(r) mini cups to store my coffee for each brew.... Not only does it make it easier... This way I am limiting my coffee beans exposure to air since I am only opening what I am using ;)

hope per this is helpful, if anyone else has ideas, please share

thanks

Cool idea! I am yet to travel with my own coffee but if I do, this seems like the way to go!

Thanks, remember this is also good for the half awake mornings, when you just don't have the desire to measure :).

I think it's a bit silly to carry 10 of those containers with coffee in them, why not dump the coffee contents of the 10 containers into a Ziplock bag, then just carry one of those containers so you can use it to measure the dosage with?

Air exposure is nothing if you after you are done filling the baggy you simply press the air out of while you Ziplock it shut, and do that each time you retrieve coffee from the baggy. Use a high quality dual zip lock bag, and only use as large of a bag as you'll need, you won't be needing a 1 gallon bag! Take an extra bag just in case a small hole gets into the regular one, but in all the years I've done bike camping that has never happened, but I still carry an extra baggy.

I do bicycle camping/touring, I'm not carrying around extra crap that is unnecessary because it takes up space in a pannier and increases weight, and with bike camping/touring space and weight is critical just as it would be for backpacking. I simply pre-grind my coffee before my trip so I don't have to carry a grinder which is space and weight, then pour it into a Ziplock baggy. Never had any problems doing that in the 15 or so years I've been doing bike camping/touring. If my trip is longer than what I feel comfortable carrying, then I carry my usual amount of pre-ground, then when I run out just to go a store on route and buy a small package of pre-ground coffee.

I know you might be traveling by car or plane so using the AeroPress is ok for that, but you still need to be careful of space in your suitcase which is why I would consider pre-grinding and not carrying the grinder.

Those diamond plastic containers do not seal that well, they are known to pop off especially when traveling, then you'll have grounds or beans all over your stuff, nor are they as airtight as Ziplock bag if you press all the air out of the bag.

When I bike camp I use a GSI Ultralight Java drip maker, it folds flat to about an 1/4th of inch, and is about 4 inches in diameter, and only weighs 9 grams, and there is no need for filters to be carried and disposed of, and it makes decent coffee enough for camping. I have an AeroPress it didn't work out well for camping, it was too bulky and weighed too much, not including the filters I also had to make space for.

Just my thoughts, but you do you.
