You competed? What were your signature drinks? I thought about competing but decided against it. I get stage fright.

I was working at the casino and my boss came to me and said he wanted me to compete. I told him I was not a barista I was a roaster...he said you get 3 extra days in Boston...I said, "I'm a barista!" I was a bit nervous cuz I was roasting so much I didn't have much time to play on the espresso machine. I told them I wanted my signiture drink to have booze in it and they said it was against the rules...sigh so I went with a plain ole raspberry mocha. I used Velrona chocoate from a 3lb block I brought with me...and some kick ass raspberry syrup I had. I had mini cakes to accent the drinks...but as I said before I am a roaster...and I went over 2 mins. I had fun and respect the people who get up there..cuz it is stressful as hell! I met a great guy at the contest..he was up in 5 mins...he looked at me and said he had to go and throw up....so yes it is nerve racking!

Too bad, will be at NCA in New York all that week - would otherwise have been there. I'll follow the blogs to find out what happens.
