We have rolled out our mobile cafe but ran into a little problem with our fruit smoothie setup. We do not have running hot water in the truck and this is needed for the type of smoothie machine that the vendor supplied us with. The machine is the type that blends into a container and then poured into cups from the container. These containers need to be cleaned after each use.

We are now looking at alternatives, such as dispensers instead of blender/mixers, as well as a new vendor. Can anyone suggest a vendor for smoothies or drinks similiar to smoothies. Our original vendor had outstanding smoothies and I would like something above a slush or cheap drink. Any suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.

How much hot water do you need? It wouldn't be hard to rig up a passive hot water heating system off your espresso machine if you are using one that is.

You wouldn't even have to have it touch the boiler, all you would have to do is have a few coils of copper or you could even use a small radiator and convert it over to water. Just attach it to the topside of a bottom panel and have it absorb the heat just like cups do.

No performance loss with the machine and the added benefit of decently hot water. You would probably would want to include a small insulated storage tank 3 or 5 gallons.

It may seem like a lot of work but it wouldn't be as hard you think.

ccafe,

Thanks for the suggestion. We decided to go with a different vendor who supplies a different style machine that will mix and hold the product and dispense right into cups. With no holding containers, we no longer will require hot water for cleaning.
